I woke late and made my porridge, rich with butter and currents. Usually, I don’t plan a destination for the day but today I’d been offered a bed for the night in Guisseny, just 25km away.
The 2.5-hour paddle was uneventful. I felt tired for the last 5km but I think that was just psychological. It’s when I’m nearing my destination that fatigue always kicks in.
I came ashore at Curnic beach, one of north Finistère’s many wild and windswept white sandy beaches.

Helen picked me up in her van and took me into Guisseny, from where she runs Barrachou Paddle. I stayed in a lovely house which can be booked for surfski or SUP holidays. The hot shower and bed were delightful. Around the cobbled corner was a boulangerie where I bought the best pain au raisin I’ve ever had. Thank you so much Helen and Jim, hopefully I’ll be back soon!
