Dougal is a 24-year old traveller, adventurer and athlete. Most recently he set a new record by kayaking around Britain in 40 days.

Type 1 Diabetes

Dougal was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on 29/09/19, aged 20. He studied the disease at the University of Nottingham as part of a Bsc Biology.

Adventures with a mission

Dougal seeks to inspire people with type 1 diabetes and other health conditions to not let their condition hold them back.

He mentors newly diagnosed T1Ds.

He has raised over £10,000 for Action4Diabetes, a UK registered charity dedicated to giving health and hope to disadvantaged young people living with Type 1 Diabetes in South-East Asia.

Before kayaking around Britain, Dougal said: “I know this adventure will be really tough, but I’m choosing to do it and that’s such a privilege. Meanwhile, there are children all over the world with no access to insulin – that’s real suffering. Knowing that I’m helping them will keep me paddling. ”
