Porridge isn’t popular in France, and Robin found it amusing that oats are my breakfast of choice. So at breakfast, I showed him my secret porridge making method. Not sure he was convinced!
By the time I left Saint Maxime at 12, it was roasting, and I made sure to fill up with my 5.5 litre capacity of water. The days’ paddle was pretty uneventful. I felt sore for the first 3 hours, and it was a flatwater slog all day. More time for stretching and mobility is needed! The stone turned a rusty red and I enjoyed paddling along the rocky headlands. At one, a man shouted and waved, and I assumed he was just excited to see a kayak. In fact, he was a paddler, Lionel, who knew about my trip, and he later sent me some photos!




I crossed the bay of Cannes to the Lerins islands and decided to sleep on the Western tip of the smaller one, Ile Saint-Honorat.
